Update: Man Identified in Greenbelt Hit-and-Run
Bob Auerbach, a Maryland Green Party candidate, was hit Wednesday evening and died later that night.
Update, 11:01 p.m.: The Maryland Green Party reported that the man who died in the hit-and-run accident in Greenbelt Wednesday was former Maryland Green Party candidate for the US House of Representative in the 5th District—Robert Shipley Auerbach. Auerbach, 92, recently ran for office in November, but had run several times before. Bob was born in New York City in 1919, was active with civil rights and progressive movements his entire life. He worked as a librarian and lived in Greenbelt for the past 50 years.
