UPDATE: Tornado Watch Issued for Pr. George's

As much as one to three inches of rain could fall during an evening rainstorm.

Update - 6:34 p.m. - A tornado watch has been issued for Prince George's County, as well as Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Carrol, Charles and Harford counties. The watch is in effect until 2 a.m. A wind advisory is also in effect through 6 a.m. on Thursday morning. Winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts of 45 to 50 mph, are predicted. Additionally, a flash flood watch is in effect through the evening.  Original article - A strong cold front coming through the area is bringing the risk of heavy rains, gusting winds and flash floods, according to The National Weather Service (NWS). Scattered Thunderstorms Possible Tuesday Night

The storms could produce damaging wind gusts, the National Weather Service warns.

The National Weather Service cautions that scattered thunderstorms may move through Prince George's County and surrounding areas Tuesday night. While there are no formal warnings or watches in effect, a few storms "capable of producing damaging wind gusts" are possible. Patchy fog is also expected after 2 a.m., with an overnight low of about 73°. On Wednesday, more scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected after 8 a.m., with a daytime high of about 89°.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch Lifted

A slow-moving cold front is expected to kick up more rain, wind, and hail Tuesday.

Update, 10:01 p.m.:  The severe thunderstorm watch has been lifted. Original article: Keep an eye on the skies Tuesday, as forecasters are warning of more severe weather in the area. A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect across Prince George's County and the surrounding region through 8 p.m. The cause, according to the National Weather Service, is a slow-moving cold front pushing through the area. "Some storms will become severe and will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and possibly large hail," the service cautions. A high of 96° is expected this afternoon.
