  With Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) letting out for summer vacation today, some students will have the weekend off before starting summer camp on Monday, many will begin work on their PGCPS summer activity packets, while others will begin looking forward to trips to the beach, the mountains or resorts like Disney World. Greenbelt Men Charged with Intent to Distribute Drugs in School Zone

Police arrested two Greenbelt men on drug charges near Springhill Lake Elementary and Greenbelt Middle School.

Police arrested two Greenbelt men Tuesday and charged them with possession with intent to distribute drugs in a school zone at 3:41 p.m., according to Greenbelt Police. They were arrested on Cherrywood Lane at Breezewood Drive, police report. The location police provided is near Springhill Lake Elementary and Greenbelt Middle School. In addition to the school-zone related charge, Ivan Golovin Trittipoe, 49, of Greenbelt, was charged with possession of drugs - not marijuana, and with driving while impaired by drugs, among other charges, at a traffic stop. Summer Program Is Offering Free Lunches in Greenbelt

This summer, lunch is free for kids age 18 and under and for persons with disabilities, at two locations in Greenbelt.

The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is offering children in Greenbelt, and throughout the state, healthy lunches during the summer, at no charge. It starts Monday, June 27, and runs through August 5, 2011. The U.S. Department of Agriculture sponsors the program, which is available for all children age 18 and under, and it’s also available to people of all ages with mental or physical disabilities.
