The Prince George’s County Public Schools International Student Counseling Office is collaborating with the University of Maryland to host a free college workshop in Spanish for students in Grades 6-12 and their parents. The workshop will be on Feb. 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Stamp Student Union at the University of Maryland. The program will include the following grade-level workshops facilitated by counselors: The workshop is geared towards Latino students and their families in grades 6-12, but it is open to all families in Prince George’s County. The first official Maryland Latino Festival will be held at the Maryland State Fairgrounds this weekend.
The best in the state's offerings of Latin food and entertainment will be available to patrons who attend the inaugural Maryland Latino Festival on Sunday at the Maryland State Fairgrounds. (Click here for Spanish site) Festival representatives are expecting 20,000 to 30,000 attendees this weekend for a day of food, dancing and headlining Hispanic performers. “Based on some of the early returns, it looks like we’re going to make those numbers,” said festival spokesman Darrell Carrington.
