Former Greenbelt Rape Suspect Lost Job, Dog and Apartment
One former suspect considered suicide, fearing he would be in jail for the rest of his life.
Though two former suspects were cleared of first-degree rape and related charges in the December gang rape of a woman near the Greenbelt Metro Station, both say they suffered as a result of being charged and imprisoned. Following four months in jail and another on house arrest, DNA evidence exonerated Sheldon Snead, of Laurel, and K'Vaughn Brandon Hines, of Mount Rainer, ABC7 reported. After a second bond review with no bail given, Hines said, "I was trying to get used to being in jail for rest of my life. I wanted to commit suicide," the Gazette reports. As a life-long citizen of Greenbelt, I'm very angry about this situation. Where are the bleeding heart liberal democrats? Why is the Mayor silent? Why is the city council silent?
