Greenbelt Police Investigate Serious Hit-and-Run Accident

Greenbelt police are asking for the public's help to identify the driver involved.

A man was seriously injured Wednesday evening when he was struck by a vehicle near Hanover Parkway and Ora Glen Drive in Greenbelt, MD. According to the police report, the initial investigation revealed that the man was crossing the southbound lanes of Hanover Parkway on foot—toward the CVS and US Post Office—when a vehicle struck him. Pr. George's Schools Open Monday, Motorists Should Stay Alert

Last school year, the Prince George's County Police Department issued 349,233 speed camera tickets in the county's school zones.

  Motorists will need to keep their lead-foot in check starting Monday, when children across Prince George's County return to school. Many children walk to school with the help of parents or crossing guards, so drivers will have to be on the lookout for traffic slowing down in school zones across the county, not only to prevent injury to pedestrians but also to prevent from getting snapped in a speed camera's image. According to the AAA Mid-Atlantic, the Prince George's County Police Department issued 349,233 tickets last school year in the county's school zones. Each violation cost a motorist $40 and the county raised more than $5 million dollars in revenue from the tickets. The state raised around $13.9 million, the auto club reported…

Update: One Pedestrian Dead after Home Depot Parking Lot Crash

Fire officials say the incident occurred in the parking lot at The Home Depot at 3301 East-West Highway in Hyattsville.

Six people were struck by a car in the Hyattsville Home Depot parking lot Thursday, and one of them has died, according to Hyattsville City Police. The victim, 41-year-old Fredys Castillo-Giron, was one of seven people hospitalized after the crash, including the driver, according to WJLA. Police said the driver, who is in his 60s, was leaving the parkng lot when he suffered a medical emergency and lost control of his car, veering into a concrete island and striking the six people. The crash is still under investigation, police said.
