The National Weather Service cautions that scattered thunderstorms may move through Prince George's County and surrounding areas Tuesday night. While there are no formal warnings or watches in effect, a few storms "capable of producing damaging wind gusts" are possible. Patchy fog is also expected after 2 a.m., with an overnight low of about 73°. On Wednesday, more scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected after 8 a.m., with a daytime high of about 89°.

A drought is killing crops across the country drying up ponds and other waterways leaving costly damage in its wake. The National Weather Service (NWS) has been tracking the drought across the country for several months. More than 60 percent of the mainland U.S. is experiencing drought conditions as of this month, according to NWS. The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Prince George's County and much of the surrounding Washington, D.C. region. According to the forecast, scattered thunderstorms may roll into the area this evening, some with the potential to produce large hail and powerful winds. NWS predicts winds from 20 to 30 mph with gust up to 55 mph. The strongest winds will be late this afternoon through this evening, according to NWS. The current advisory ends at midnight.
