Fires at Clinton Student-Built Homes Ruled 'Suspicious'

Two fires have occurred at homes built by public high school students within a week.

  Two fires at homes in Clinton built by Prince George's County public high school students have been ruled suspicious, according to the Prince George's County Fire Department. The blazes occurred in the same neighborhood within a week. In the most recent fire on Monday, the house still under construction was consumed by the fire and collapsed into the basement, according to the fire department. Propane cylinders also exploded and became projectiles that traveled nearly 50 yards to a neighbor's yard across the street, the fire department stated. NASA Shows Fires Birthing Air Particles With Power to Impact Climate

Aerosols impact weather and climate, and NASA says they're collecting in skies over the West.

Aerosols are small particles that have an outsized impact on weather and climate—and they're collecting in the skies over the West,  NASA Goddard warned Thursday. Dangerous fires raging across the United States have caused a surplus of smoke, according to NASA's Earth Observatory. The observatory has released an image depicting the concentration of tiny particles—called aerosols—in the skies above the continental United States. The western fires are affecting air quality as far away as the East Coast, according to "The Smoke Blog" hosted by the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, as reported by NASA's Earth Observatory.
