UPDATE: Deadly Crash Kills Two on Lanham-Severn Road

The victims have been identified as Lanham residents Leo Castro and Jose Rodrigeuez.

Update, 11:55 p.m.: Police have identified the victims in Monday morning's fatal crash in Glenn Dale as Leo Castro, 46, and Jose Rodrigeuez, 30, both of Lanham.  Orignial article: Two people are reported dead after a fatal crash Monday morning in Glenn Dale. According to Prince George's Fire/EMS Spokesman Mark Brady, the crash occurred around 8 a.m. in the 10800 block of Lanham-Severn Road. When rescuers reported to the scene, they found four people injured and transported them to local hospitals. By 9 a.m, Prince George's County Police reported that one of the injured was pronounced dead, one remained in critical condition and two were in serious condition. Greenbelt Fire Engines Out of Commission Following Beltway Crash

Greenbelt's firefighters were tending to an accident on the beltway when a Lexus slammed into their fire engine, according to a fire department official.

A 2005 Lexus slammed into a Greenbelt fire engine while firefighters were tending to a vehicle accident on the inner loop of the Capital Beltway, according to Mark Brady, Prince George's County Fire/EMS spokesman. While the Lexus was being cleared, another vehicle slammed into it, barely missing firefighters, Brady said. The Greenbelt Volunteer Fire Department was using its fire engine as barrier protection for civilians, emergency personnel, and units from Greenbelt, West Lanham Hills and Berwyn Heights, which were working on the initial beltway crash between the Baltimore-Washington Parkway (Rt. 295) and the Annapolis Rd. Motorist Plows Through Beltsville Agricultural Research Center Gate

BARC is delaying repairs because its Bee Research Lab will be relocating, so its gate needs are changing, according to BARC official.

  Officials at the Beltsville Agriculture Research Center (BARC) are still trying to decide what to do about an entry gate that was rammed and broken about six weeks ago, especially since the area is due for some changes anyhow. A motorist plowed through the gate at the intersection of Powder Mill and Entomology roads. The gate was severely damaged and apparently the vehicle was too, but it was still able to get away from the scene. "I don't think they went through it unscathed," said Sandy Miller Hays, Agricultural Research Service spokesperson, who reported staff found a lot of car parts near where the collision occurred.
