The accident is on the Beltway near New Carrollton.
An accident on the inner loop of the Beltway closed down three southbound lanes on Interstate 95 in Lanham Thursday morning. According to officials, the accident occurred around 10 a.m. near exit 20, or Annapolis Road. Cars could pass the accident in the left lane and shoulder, according to WTOP traffic. According to Prince George's Fire/EMS Spokesman Mark Brady the accident involves more than one vehicle, however, the driver of one vehicle is trapped and critically injured. Brady tweeted, "...adult male driver extricated and will be [transported] by medics to area Trauma Center in extremely critical condition." The lanes were reopened around 11 a.m.

Years ago, my family and I went for a hike through the English countryside. We started later than planned, took our time along the winding paths, through the hills of Surrey and finally found ourselves in a knoll that would have been beautiful under different circumstances. Unfortunately for us, we had underestimated how long the circular course would take and found ourselves deep in the woods well after the sun had gone down. Though we tried to make it seem like an adventure, my husband and I were truly worried. We did end up making it out of the woods and safely back to our car, but that had more to do with luck than experience. Recent rains from Tropical Storm Lee have left behind a host of road closures, high water and delays.
Update, Sept. 8, 9:45 a.m.: The Prince Geroge's County office of the county executive recently updated the list of road closures, citing several state agencies' recent reports: The Prince George’s County Department of Public Works & Transportation reported the following County roads closed. This list does not include roadways where high water warning signs have been placed. The State Highway Administration reported the following traffic updates for Prince George’s County: MARC Service: Brunswick and Camden Line passengers: Flash flood warnings are in effect.
