Greenbelt Elementary School was founded around 1936, but because of population fluctuations now resides in a newer building, built in 1993, in the historic section of town. The school offers a traditional approach to teaching, and sponsors children from pre-kindergarten to sixth grade. Furthering education, Greenbelt students participate in several programs: Reading Recovery, Talented and Gifted in the Regular Classroom and Write-A-Book Contest.
