Get Out Greenbelt: Face Painting, Chicken Dinner, Concerts

FREE Face Painting for Movie Goers - MONSTERS UNIVERSITY

  • Where: Academy 8 Theaters, 6198 Greenbelt Rd, Greenbelt
  • When:  Saturday, June 22, Sunday, June 23, 1:30 – 4:30 p.m.
  • Description:  On June 22, 2013 and June 23, 2013 there will be FREE face painting for kids of all ages that come to watch the movie starting at 1:30pm through 4:30pm on both dates.
  • Cost: Face painting free, see theater website for movie ticket prices.

Free Trumpet and Organ Concert
  • Where:  6513 Queens Chapel Rd University Park
  • When:  Sunday, June 23, 4 p.m.
  • Description:  Trumpet and Gerald Piercey - organ for a free program of music 
  • from the 17th through the 20th centuries.
  • Cost:  Free

Old Town Bowie Saturday Concert
  • Where:  Town Green Park, 9th Street (Route 564)
  • When:   Saturday, June 22, 2 – 4 p.m.
  • Description:  These free concerts will be presented “in the heart of the antique district” in Old Town Bowie. Concerts are canceled in case of inclement weather.

Home Energy Efficiency Workshop
  • Where: Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 10755 Scaggsville Rd, Laurel
  • When:  Sunday, June 23, 10:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
  • Description:  A workshop on home energy efficiency and home energy use, presented by Groundswell, a local non-profit organization whose mission includes promoting energy efficiency for households and helping communities access clean, affordable energy.
  • Cost: Free

Barbecue Chicken Dinner
  • Where:  Duval Field Rhode Island Ave, College Park - Drive Through
  • When:  Sunday, June 23, 12 p.m.
  • Description:  Meals on Wheels of College Park Barbecue Chicken Dinner Fundraiser.
  • Cost:  $9

Pollinator Week-Bee Seminar at Patuxent Nursery
  • Where:  2410 North Crain Hwy, Bowie
  • When:  Saturday, June 22, 11 a.m.
  • Description:  Participants will learn how to attract bees to their garden, learn why they would want to, and learn how to avoid getting stung.  Speaker, Linda Thompson has kept honeybees at her home in Glenn Dale since 2008.  She is an 
  • active member of the Bowie-Upper Marlboro Beekeepers Association (BUMBA) and on the Maryland State Beekeepers Association (MSBA) Board of Directors.
  • Cost: Free

"Share The Love Homeless Event"
  • Where:  401 Eastern Ave Seat Pleasant
  • When:  Saturday, June 22, 12 p.m.
  • Description:  All donations are welcome monetary and food (Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Rolls, Water, Soda, and Baked Beans). All DONATIONS are taxdeductible: #52-2290844.
  • Cost:  Free, donations welcome
