No Metrorail Delays, Extra Police Patrols Added

No delays on Metrorail Monday evening after mass shooting at Navy Yard. Nationals-Braves game rescheduled for Tuesday.

Going into the evening rush, Metro reported that there were no delays on Metrorail associated with Monday morning's shootings at the Washington Navy Yard in Southeast Washington, DC.

As of 3 p.m. Monday, there were no alerts posted on Metro's website for any of the Metrorail lines

Additional police officers were added to Metro patrols, although there had been no specific threat to Metro, Metro Transit Police (@MetroTransitPD) reported on Twitter.

Many bus detours in the area of the Navy Yard have been ongoing throughout the day; Metro reported:

  • V7 bus: Buses to Deanwood detour at 7th and D streets SW to resume the regular route at Pennsylvania and Potomac avenues SE. Buses to the Bureau of Engraving detour at Pennsylvania and Potomac avenues SE to resume the regular route at 7th and D streets SW.
  • P6 bus: Buses to Anacostia detour at 4th Street and Independence Avenue SW to resume the regular route at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Good Hope Road SE. Buses to Rhode Island Avenue detour at 13th and Good Hope Road SE to resume the regular route at 4th Street and Independence Avenue SW.
  • 92 bus: Buses to Congress Heights detour at 8th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue SE to resume the route at 17th Street and Good Hope Road SE. Buses to Duke Ellington Bridge detour at 16th Street and Good Hope Road SE to resume the route at 8th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue SE.
  • 90 bus: Buses to Anacostia detour at 8th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue SE to resume the route at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Good Hope Road SE. Buses to Duke Ellington Bridge detour at 13th Street and Good Hope Road SE to resume the route at 8th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue SE.

The baseball game scheduled for Monday night between the Washington Nationals and the Atlanta Braves was postponed. The two teams will play a double-header on Tuesday night, NBC Sports reported.

There were at least 12 fatalities from the shooting, according to Washington Mayor Vincent Gray, and three wounded.
