Late-Season Update: Eleanor Roosevelt Basketball

With a week left to play, the Raiders are in good shape.

With just a week of regular-season action left to be played, both the boys and girls basketball teams at Eleanor Roosevelt High School are poised for playoff runs.

The boys have not been as dominant this season as some had predicted, but they have remained among the top four teams in the Prince George's 4A conference all year. This week's loss to Parkdale has got to be unsettling for Coach Brendan O'Connell and his staff, but with back from injury, and flirting with a comeback, the team has a great shot at making a deep playoff run.

Their final two games come against Suitland and Flowers, two of the best teams in the county. Coming away with at least one win out of those two contests would be a nice morale boost for the Raiders.

After winning seven straight games between Jan. 14 and Feb 4, the girls team finally lost this week to league-leading Bowie. They rebounded two nights later though, with an easy win over Parkdale. At 12-3, the Girls are in third place in PG4A competition with Wise and Bowie standing in their way. Those two teams will be the Raiders' biggest roadblocks once the playoffs roll around.
