Kevin Durant Returns To His “Old Hangout” In Nike Commercial

Maryland native films NBA Draft parody at the Seat Pleasant Activity Center

While top college basketball players anxiously waited for their names to be called at the Barclays Center in New York Thursday night, a smaller, not so serious draft took place during the commercial break in Seat Pleasant.

In a Nike commercial to promote his new show line, Prince George’s County native and Oklahoma City Thunder player Kevin Durant hopes he’ll be the top pick in the “2:35 PM Draft” at the Seat Pleasant Activity Center.

For Durant, the activity center isn’t just a set for a commercial—it’s where he grew up playing basketball. In his personal blog, Durant said he spent “all day, every day” in the gymnasium and called it his home. And in 2010, Durant donated $25,000 to renovate the gaming room where he hung out between practices.
