Schools Closing Early Today

The rapid snow fall has Prince George's County Public Schools closing early today.

The rapid snowfall has caused Prince George's County Public Schools to close early today.

, which opens earlier than most other schools, closed just before noon after they got word that Prince George's County Schools were closing two hours early because of the snow. A number of students were still waiting for parents to pick them up at 12:20 p.m.

Beatrice Sanders, office attendant at , said the two-hour early dismissal caused quite a bit confusion when it was announced.

She laughed as she explained that,"it does get a little frustrating because I'll get a call from a parent saying, 'Well, Montgomery County Schools are closing early, are we closing early?' and they don't understand the two systems aren't linked. We had to wait until we had the go-ahead from Prince George's County Schools," she said. "When 600 parents call, it gets a little overwhelming."

Greenbelt Elementary students will be dismissed at 1:20 p.m. while will be able to leave at 1:10 p.m. All evening activities for all Prince George's County Schools are canceled.
