Roosevelt Moves Up in State and National Rankings

Roosevelt High School boys' basketball team moved up six places in state rankings and up 285 nationally after Saturday's game.

On the heels of a 72-68 playoff victory over the Suitland Rams, Eleanor Roosevelt High School's boys' basketball team is up six places in the state rankings and 285 places in the national rankings as of Monday. Now Roosevelt's state ranking is 20 and its national rank is 1,134, according to MaxPreps rankings. And the team is number four in Maryland Division 4A rankings.

On Saturday the Rams fought back to bring a 15-point lead down to a two possession game in the final minute. But Raiders senior guard Akil Charles put an end to that, netting two free throws with just over 16 seconds remaining, and the Raiders held the lead to win the game on their home floor, according to DMVelite's game coverage.

Roosevelt will take on defending 4A state champion the North Point Eagles on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the University of Maryland’s Comcast Center.
