Roosevelt High School Celebrates Graduates

Eleanor Roosevelt High School hosts its 31st annual Baccalaureate Celebration.

Each year, Eleanor Roosevelt High School honors its graduates with the Baccalaureate Celebration. This event is meant to allow students to reflect on time in school and gives families a chance to recognize the achievements of their students. Hosted by the Greenbelt Interfaith Leadership Association, the celebration emphasizes the importance of tolerance and unity as students prepare for graduation.

“It’s good to understand that even though everyone is different, we are all united by ERHS,” said graduating senior Ivory Brown, the mistress of ceremonies for the celebration.

All students are invited to attend this recognition ceremony. This year’s event featured musical performances, religious presentations, recognition of particular students, and a host of guest speakers who encouraged the graduates of 2011.

“If knowledge is the engine of development, then learning must be its fuel,” said speaker Jessica Kamala Mushala of Shina Inc. as she addressed the graduating seniors, “Learn something about everything and everything about something.”

ERHS graduation will take place Friday, June 3, at 9 a.m. in the Comcast Center at the University of Maryland.
