Greenbelt Nursery School to Host Annual Open House

Parents considering sending their children to the cooperative nursery school can talk to current parent members, while sipping Starbucks.

Greenbelt Nursery School is holding its annual open house on Saturday. Parents of prospective students can mingle with current parent-members of the cooperative, while sipping Starbucks coffee and eating homemade baked goods.

The open house runs from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. and also offers parents a chance to see the facility, meet staff and parent-members, and ask questions. And it is the first day to register for the 2012 - 2013 school year.

Nursery school Director Lisa Meyer said parents can bring their children with them — the classrooms will be open.

It's the 70th year of the nursery school, which was founded in 1942 — and currently serves 2 to 4-year old children. Members pool their resources together in the cooperative. Parents pitch in, helping out in the classroom, on committees, in housekeeping and in other ways, Meyer said.
