Finalists Selected for PGCPS CEO

Three finalists for the position of Prince George’s County Public Schools Chief Executive Officer were recommended to County Executive Rushern Baker, according to a press release issued Monday afternoon.

Baker will likely select the new CEO by the end of the week, according to the release. The names of the finalists have not been announced due to the confidentiality of the selection process.

The three-member search committee considered 50 applicants, looking for individuals who focused on student achievement, engaged parents and community members, demonstrated equity in resource allocation and maintained professional stability in leadership positions.

Search committee members conducted three listening sessions—two face-to-face and one town hall session by phone—to identify qualities sought in the new school CEO candidates. After reviewing all of the applications, search committee members interviewed six applicants for the position.

The CEO position replaces the Superintendent as the leader of the school system, as established by Governor Martin O’Malley’s Academic Revitalization and Management Effectiveness Initiative.

Baker must select the CEO from among the three candidates presented by the search committee.
