Support Old Greenbelt Theatre With a Vote

The Greenbelt movie theater was chosen to compete for grant money from Partners in Preservation.

The city of Greenbelt would like to rennovate the old Greenbelt Theatre, but in order to do so the city needs your support.

The theater is competing for grant money from Partners in Preservation which along with American Express and the National Trust for Historic Preservation is set to give $1 million in grant money to DC-area historic places.

The theater is one of 24 places selected and the city is hoping to use the money to supplement funding for the theater's rennovation. According to a city spokeswoman, the rennovation would return the theater to look like it did in its early years and would entail "upgrading to a digital projection system, overhauling the mechanical equipment, overall renovation of the auditorium and the installation of acoustical tamping panels.
