Prince George’s Teams Dominate All-Star Game and Greenbelters Run for a Good Cause

Prince George’s County basketball players, both girls and boys, competed in an All-Star game against Montgomery County players and dominated over the weekend. spent much of their time attempting–and for the most part, completing–contest-worthy slam dunks, while their counterparts from Montgomery County loosened up with a steady supply of jump shots. A group in Prince George’s County is trying to allow chickens on residential property. Prince George’s Hens is a group pressing the Prince George’s County Council and Planning Board to permit a zoning change to allow small groups of about four chickens, specifically hens, on residential property.

From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, the little art studio in the was full of curious artists who wanted to try traditional mud cloth painting of the Korhogo tribe of Ivory Coast and the Bamana tribe of Mali. could utilize the materials and the use of the studio as a part of a regular free event program Artful Afternoon, which is usually on the first Sunday of every month at the Community Center.

Also on Sunday, from tiny tots to seniors pledged to run or walk Tortoise and Hare 5K, which began and ended at the Greenbelt Tennis Courts.  All were invited to run the course, twice around Greenbelt Lake in support of Greenbelt Nursery School.

Prince George’s County could create a to help promote environmentally conscious commerce through tax credits if a plan introduced Tuesday is approved. The advisory board would be composed of appointees by the county council and county executive.  Its main purpose would be to provide advice regarding the implementation of the county’s tax credit program as it relates to green businesses.
