Pinsky Pushes Scholarships For Greenbelt and Local Students
Sen. Pinsky (D-Prince George's) seeks applicants for college scholarship program in 22nd legislative district.
Some college bound students in Greenbelt and Maryland's 22nd legislative district could be eligible for a scholarship offered by Maryland Sen. Paul Pinsky (D-Prince George's).
To be eligible, students must live in Sen. Pinsky's district, which includes Greenbelt, Hyattsville, Riverdale Park, Unversity Park, Berwyn Heights, Edmonston, Lanham, New Carrollton, Woodlawn, Riverdale Heights and Beacon Heights.
Applicants must also plan to attend a Maryland state university or trade school.

The scholarships are awarded by a volunteer committee which reviews applicants academics, finances and "commitment to higher education."
In 2011, Sen. Pinsky's scholarship committee awarded 80 scholarships in amounts ranging from $500 to $2,500. Applications must be submitted by April 5, 2012.

Pinsky's scholarship program is
Delegate scholarships range from $200 to about $2,000 while senatorial scholarships run from $400 to $9,450. Applicants must complete and file the FAFSA by the state deadline of March 1.
