OTHER BUSINESS

Revised Detailed Site Plan: Sign Request for CVS at Greenway Shopping Center - Per Prince George’s County Zoning code, CVS is entitled to a 25 foot pole mounted sign at its entrance off Greenbelt Road which it originally proposed to city staff. However in respect to concerns raised by city staff, CVS agreed to revise its sign proposal to include a 6’4” high by 7’9 ½” wide Light-Emitting Diode (LED) sign. CVS was not willing to compromise on the LED component of the sign since it is the sign design CVS will be using nationally and it is allowed by county zoning code. The applicant has proposed landscaping along the base of the sign, but staff believes the landscape plan needs to be revised to include a balance of annuals and perennials.

Proposed Breezewood Drive Improvements Associated with New Greenbelt Middle School To address pedestrian safety and accessibility along the Breezewood Drive frontage of the new Greenbelt Middle School site, the Prince George’s County Public School System proposed a number of improvements including: raised crosswalks, ADA compliant curb ramps, no parking zones, school flashing speed limit beacon, new sidewalk, improved lighting and school zone signs. Additional crosswalks are also being proposed in proximity to the Breezewood Drive/Springhill Lane intersection.

Waiver Request: 75th Anniversary Committee Member - Joan Lois Rosado has been an active member of the 75th Anniversary Committee since April of 2011. Ms. Rosado will begin working part time at the Aquatic and Fitness Center (GAFC) in a few weeks. She has requested a waiver from council to allow her to continue serving on the 75th Anniversary Committee until their assignment ends in December of 2012.

Reappointments to Advisory Groups - Marc Siege of the Park and Recreation Advisory Board and Dorian Branch of the Youth Advisory Committee have indicated their willingness to continue to serve on their respective committees. Council approval will appoint them to new terms.

Resignation from Advisory Group - Megan Hughes has submitted her resignation from the Greenbelt Advisory Committee on Environmental Sustainability. Approval of this item on the consent agenda will indicate council’s intent to accept her resignation with regret.
