NASA Goddard's Transit of Venus Viewing Party a Stellar Success

More than 1,000 attendees enjoyed activities, lectures and more at NASA's Goddard Visitor Center.

On Tuesday, June 5th, NASA hosted a Transit of Venus , a rare astrological event that will not occur again until 2117.

Even though the skies were cloudy, and did not allow for viewing through the solar telescopes, more than 1,000 people participated in hands-on activities presentations by NASA scientists and viewing real-time images from NASA spacecraft.

"While it would have been nice had the sun cooperated, people really seemed to seemed to enjoy the event," said Nancy Jones, NASA Goddard's communications manager.
