Council To Elect Mayor at Its First Meeting

At the 39th City Council's charter meeting, it will elect Greenbelt's mayor.

Greenbelt's newly-elected City Council will convene tonight to elect the city's mayor and mayor pro-tem.

Traditionally, council members select as mayor the candidate who received the most votes during the election for City Council. The tradition is similar for mayor pro-tem, as council typically selects the candidate with the second highest number of votes.

If council follows tradition, Judith "J" Davis, who received 1,383 votes, will continue as mayor and Emmett Jordan, who received 1,367 votes, will continue as mayor pro-tem.
