Hyattsville Man Is Hospitalized After 3-Vehicle Accident in Greenbelt

An accident at Greenbelt Road and Kenilworth Avenue sent a Hyattsville man to the hospital, according to the Greenbelt Police Department.

A Hyattsville man is in critical but stable condition in Prince George’s Hospital after his van flipped over in an accident involving three vehicles at the intersection of Greenbelt Road (Route 193) and Kenilworth Avenue (MD 201), according to Captain Thomas Kemp, of the Greenbelt Police Department.

Kemp said the call came in at 5:30 p.m., and police closed off all lanes to do a re-enactment in case it turns into a fatality. But he said, thankfully, the Hyattsville man is still alive.

Notifications have gone out, Kemp said.

I prayed for him as I attempted to clear and stabilize his airway while paramedics arrived . I'm glad he's hanging in there .

I was arriving at Greenbelt Park last evening when I saw that the police had the road blocked ahead and noticed the van that was overturned and across the lanes of traffic. I have been and will continue to pray for all those involved.
Claudia I applaud you for being a wonderful person to help the person who was so critically hurt in this accident. Unfortunately there aren't many people in this world anymore that will be willing to stop and help another! May God richly bless you and your family as well!

I was the first at the seen of this accident, and it was like out of a movie. The van was in the right lane from me just behind me when I saw it flip over several times pass me. It was amazing to see the pasanger climb out of the window with not a scratch, while the other guy was in such bad condition. He had major head injuries amongst other things, my prayers go out to the driver and his family. I guess its true what they say if its not your time then its not your time. I gave a police report today and found out that the driver is in realy bad shape.

Inattentive drivers.... *SIGH* If I had a nickle for each potential "accident" I've seen... I'd be rich. Please folks... shut off the phone, turn down the stereo, and DRIVE courteously!

Claudia deserves a citizenship award! You are an amazing woman! I am sure the man involved in the accident is forever grateful to you for his life. You did more for him then the cop did. Bravo! You are a wonderful person!

Considering the sorry state of sex education in schools today and parental reluctance for teachingRead More anything but abstinence (if they teach anything at all), I'd suggest that the sale shouldn't even be questioned. When we decide education means more than just saying "no," when boys and men learn that it's as much their responsibility as women's to avoid unprotected sex and that violence against women is wrong, and when we teach consequences along with abstinence, then perhaps the pill won't be necessary. I don't see that day coming for a long, long time. Now, if the course "Our Whole Lives" taught by Unitarian Universalists became standard education in every school, perhaps we wouldn't need emergency contraception. Education (knowledge) is power.

Betsy, I agree with a lot of your post; many parents seem to feel that if they tell their childrenRead More about sex, it's the same as telling them to go out and do it. I'm willing to bet that more young people get into trouble by ignorance than by knowledge. (and I haven't read the text that you mentioned but yes, education/knowledge IS power).

By all means, give them the pill and let them stop trouble in its tracks. From that moment forward,Read More encourage them to find safer ways to have fun.
