Teen Accosted on Springhill Lane

A man in a black SUV attempted to persuade the 13-year-old girl to get into his vehicle.

A 13-year-old female reported that she was approached by a strange man in a black SUV in the 9200 block of Springhill Lane in Greenbelt at approximately 9 a.m. on May 2, according to a media release from the Greenbelt Police Department.

The man stopped his vehicle next to the girl and told her to “get in,” police said. The girl, was not injured during the incident, ran into a local store and called the police; officers responded to the area, but were unable to locate the suspect or his vehicle, police said.

The suspect is described as a white male, 40 to 50 years old, with brown hair, and wearing a light blue shirt, police said.

The Greenbelt Police Department wants to remind parents to speak to their children about the dangers associated with strangers and to report any similar instances they or their child may encounter.
