Update, Nov. 22, 10:40 p.m.: The Peterbilt flatbed tow truck driver whose truck ran into the Quality Auto Parts Store in Beltsville has been transported to Prince George's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Cpl. Jason Bramble with the Maryland State Police College Park Barrack.
Bramble said the tow truck was headed south on U.S. Route 1, when a white Infinity car headed northbound lost control and crossed the turn lanes into the southbound portion of U.S. Route 1.
The Infinity collided with the tow truck, then the tow truck lost control and ran into Quality Auto Parts, Bramble said, citing the time that the incident call came in to police at about 7:20 p.m.
Although the front corner of the store is damaged, the Prince George's Fire Department inspected it and deemed it to be structurally sound, according to Bramble.
The tow truck was towed away and the store owner is on site dealing with security issues, Bramble reported.
Original Post, 8:51 p.m.: A two-vehicle collision in Beltsville on Tuesday night, caused the closure of U.S. Route 1 in both directions, according to Cpl. Jason Bramble with the Maryland State Police College Park Barrack.
Following the collision, a Peterbilt flatbed tow truck came to rest inside the Quality Auto Parts store at 11160 Baltimore Avenue, while a white Infinity ended up in the travel portion of U.S. Route 1 — causing it to be closed in both directions, according to Bramble.
There were non-life threatening injuries, Bramble reported.
