Would-be Robber Walks Away After Victim Says He Has No Money

Suspect, described as a teenager, implied he had a weapon.

Police are searching for a individual described as a teenager who apparently gave up an attempt to rob a man when then victim explained that he had no money.

Greenbelt police said the assailant, who implied he had a weapon, asked the victim for money on the 7200 block of Mandan Road. The victim told the would-be robber that he didn't have any money, and the suspect walked away, police said.

The incident occurred on Tuesday. The suspect is described as 17 to 18 years old, 5 foot 7 to 5 foot 8, 140 to 155 pounds, and as wearing a black North Face jacket and a black mask.

When we decide education means more than just saying "no," when boys and men learn that it's as much their responsibility as women's to avoid unprotected sex and that violence against women is wrong, and when we teach consequences along with abstinence, then perhaps the pill won't be necessary. I don't see that day coming for a long, long time. Now, if the course "Our Whole Lives" taught by Unitarian Universalists became standard education in every school, perhaps we wouldn't need emergency contraception. Education (knowledge) is power.

I'm willing to bet that more young people get into trouble by ignorance than by knowledge. (and I haven't read the text that you mentioned but yes, education/knowledge IS power).
