Riverdale Man Charged in Greenbelt Burglary

George Rivers is charged with first-degree burglary.

The Prince George's County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Riverdale man on suspicion of burglarizing a Greenbelt residence in the 9100 block of Edmonston Ct., according to the Sheriff's office.

George Rivers allegedly stole three LCD televisions and a video game console, according to a warrant obtained by the Greenbelt Police Department on Aug. 1. The Sheriff's office said Rivers pawned the items at pawn shops throughout the county.

Sheriff's deputies investigating the thefts found Rivers in the 5700 block of 64th Pl. in Riverdale and arrested him on Aug. 8.

The Greenbelt Police charged Rivers with first degree burglary and theft under $1,000, according to Greenbelt police.

Greenbelt detectives were notified of the arrest, and Rivers was transported to the county Department of Corrections, where he was later released on bond, the sheriff's office said.
