Report: Man Indicted in Child Pornography Case Worked at Greenbelt Library

A Greenbelt man indicted on charges related to child pornography worked in the county's library system for seven months before his employer learned of the charges, WTOP reports.

A Greenbelt man charged with 11 counts related to child pornography in December 2011 worked at the Greenbelt branch of the Prince George's County Library for seven months before he was told not to return to work until his case was resolved, according to WTOP, which broke the story late Friday.

David Hartley, of Greenbelt, was under local, state and federal investigation for images found on his computer of children taking part in sexual acts, WTOP reported. Hartley worked at the library as a part-time front desk clerk, the radio station reports.

The library was not aware of his charges until alerted in July 2012 by a concerned citizen.

Hartley pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of possession of child pornography on Aug. 27, WTOP reported. Although the prosecutors called for a 10-year sentence, the judge told Hartley he would be under house arrest for one year and he would have to register as a sex offender.
