Pr. George's Crime Watch: Food Fight Ends In Violent Death, Police Target High-Crime Areas

A teen kills housemate in argument over food; and police launch a nighttime deployment blitz to bring homicide and other crimes down, according to recent county police reports.

 

A teenager allegedly kills his housemate in a food fight; and police deploy extra specialized officers on the streets in six focus areas, according to recent Prince George's County Police Department (PGPD) reports.

A Capitol Heights teen allegedly shot his housemate to death in an argument over food, according to the PGPD. Putting an end to the fight, police say Everett Hoskins, 19, of the 700 block of Glacier Ave., retrieved a firearm and fired at his housemate Saturday night, killing him. Hoskins was captured Sunday in Washington. The victim, Oliver Gregson Davis, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene. PGPD Cpl. McKinney said she could not say what food the two were arguing over. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the PGPD Homicide Unit at (301) 772-4925.

Police Launch 'Intensive' Crime Reduction Blitz

PGPD has launched a two-week, intensive, nighttime blitz of extra officers and detectives to bring down homicide and other crimes. Specialized patrol officers and detectives are saturating six areas in evenings and early mornings as part of the Transforming Neighborhoods Initiative. The blitz, the second of the summer, began Saturday and will focus on the areas of Langley Park; East Riverdale and Bladensburg; Suitland and Coral Hills; Kentland and Palmer Park; Hillcrest Heights and Marlow Heights; as well as Glassmanor and Oxon Hill, according to police.
