Police Set Rules for Greenbelt's Fourth of July Celebration

The Greenbelt Police Department says those bringing alcohol into Buddy Attick Park will be subject to arrest, and it recommends leaving pets at home on the fourth.

Are you planning to attend the Greenbelt Fourth of July festivities at Buddy Attick Park on the lake or to hang out in Greenbelt to celebrate? If so, take a look at the guidelines.

Police Fourth of July Rules and Regulations

  • Police Department staff will provide first aid and help with lost and missing children. Look for the department's tent in the grassy area alongside the main parking lot at .
  • Do not bring alcoholic beverages to the park. It is prohibited in all city-owned parks. If you violate this, you'll be subject to arrest.
  • Police strongly recommended that you leave your pets at home during the festivities. The past shows some dogs are frightened by the loud fireworks, it can send them into a panic, where they bite or run away—or both.
  • All forms of fireworks are against the law in the City of Greenbelt. Anyone caught with fireworks will be subject to arrest. The penalty includes fines up to $1,000 or six months in jail—or both.
  • People carrying coolers and packages into the park can expect to be asked to have the contents of those packages inspected.
  • Temporary “No Parking” signs will be posted on the streets surrounding the park. Please do not park in these areas, or your vehicle will be towed.
