Police Blotter: March 31 to April 8, 2011

March 31: A carjacking occurred on the 5700 block of Cherrywood Lane at 7 a.m. The suspect approached the victim and forcefully took the victim’s black 2005 Chevrolet Impala with Virginia tags. There is no description available of the suspect. The vehicle was recovered on April 8 in Washington, D.C. No arrests were made.

Jewelry was stolen from a residence on the 6500 block of Springcrest Drive at 9:19 a.m.  

April 1: A drug arrest took place on the 6200 block of Springhill Court at 9:26 p.m. Two resident juveniles were petitioned for possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of marijuana among other charges. The juveniles were released to guardians pending action by the Department of Juvenile Services. 

Francis Cabrera, 26, of Washington, D.C., was arrested and charged with trespassing on posted property on the 6100 block of Breezewood Drive at 11:57 p.m. The suspect was released on citation pending trial. 

April 2: Shirish Kartik Julapalli, 29, of Greenbelt was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while impaired by alcohol, among other charges after a traffic stop at the intersection of Greenbelt Road and Lakecrest Drive at 1:08 a.m. The suspect was released on citations pending trial.  

A blue 1997 Dodge Caravan with Maryland tags was recovered at the intersection of Greenbelt Road and Kenilworth Avenue at 2:20 a.m. A non-resident juvenile was petitioned for motor vehicle theft, among other charges after being stopped in a stolen vehicle. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending action by the Department of Juvenile Services.

William A. Powell III, 53, of Washington, D.C., was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while impaired by alcohol, among other charges after a traffic stop on the intersection of Kenilworth Avenue and Greenbelt Road at 8:45 p.m. The suspect was released on citations pending trial.  

A phone in a hotel was damaged on the 6300 block of Golden Triangle Drive at 10:17 p.m.

April 3: Tyler Timothy Wagner, Jr., 27, of Chesapeake Beach, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while impaired by alcohol, among other charges after a traffic stop on the intersection of Crescent Road and Ridge Road at 3:00 a.m. The suspect was released on citations pending trial.  

A green 1994 Honda Accord with Maryland tags was stolen on the 9100 block of Edmonston Road. 

Electronics and jewelry were taken from a vehicle on the 6100 block of Greenbelt Road.

April 4: Devon J. Scipio, 24, of Hyattsville was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, trespassing, resisting arrest and failure to obey a lawful order on the 9100 block of Springhill Lane at 11:16 p.m. The suspect was released to the Department of Corrections for a hearing before a District Court Commissioner.

Four tires were cut on the 6600 block of Lake Park Drive. 

April 5: Unknown items were taken from a residence on the 5900 block of Greenbelt Road at 3:02 a.m.

Electronics were taken on the 6200 block of Breezewood Drive at 5:30 p.m.

Collie Vaughn Dabreo, 27, of Washington, D.C., was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop on the 6000 block of Greenbelt Road at 6:49 p.m. The suspect was released on citation pending trial. 

A vehicle was scratched at 39 Courts Ridge Road. 

A flashlight was taken from a vehicle at the intersection of Cherrywood Terrace and Cherrywood Court.

April 6: Property in a room was damaged on the 6300 block of Golden Triangle Drive at 12:30 a.m.

Oliver Deerwood Turner III, of Gainesville, Va., was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop on the intersection of Kenilworth Avenue at Pontiac Street at 11:10 a.m. The suspect was released on citation pending trial. 

 A white 2005 Ford Mustang with Pennsylvania tags, reported stolen through Prince George's County Police, was recovered on the 9100 block of Springhill Lane. No arrests were made. 

A rear Maryland tag was taken on the 6100 block of Breezewood Drive. 

Kace Lanise James, 26, of Riverdale was arrested and charged with driving while impaired by drugs, among other charges after a traffic stop at the intersection of Greenbelt Road and Mandan Road at 5:40 p.m. The suspect was released on citations pending trial. 

Electronics were among the items taken from a vehicle on the 7700 block of Hanover Parkway. 

April 8: Donnell Matthew Ruffin, 26, of Hyattsville was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop on the 5700 block of Cherrywood Lane at 12:29 a.m. The suspect was released on citation pending trial.

A silver 2000 Honda Civic with California tags was taken on the 200 block of Lakeside Drive. The vehicle was later recovered on the 7700 block of Hanover Parkway. No arrests were made. 

Electronics were taken from a vehicle on the 7800 block of Hanover Parkway. 

A green 1998 Nissan Maxima with Maryland tags was taken on the 6500 block of Springcrest Drive.
