Police Blotter: July 21 - 29

July 21: A burglary occurred on the 7100 block of Mathew Street at 9:33 a.m. Nothing was taken.

July 22: A bicycle was taken from a storage room of a residence on the 100 block of Westway at 10:14 p.m.

Edward Douglas McCormick, 40, of 753 W. Cross Street, Baltimore, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine in a school zone, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of cocaine, and resisting arrest, among other charges on the 9200 block of Springhill Lane at 11:04 a.m. The suspect was released to the Department of Corrections for a hearing before a District Court Commissioner.

Change was taken from a vehicle on the 8200 block of Mandan Court.

A GPS unit was taken from a vehicle on the 8100 block of Craddock Road.

An attempted theft from a vehicle occurred on the 7800 block of Mandan Road.

An attempted theft from a vehicle occurred on the 7800 block of Hanover Parkway.

A car window was broken on the 7800 block of Hanover Parkway.

An attempted theft from a vehicle occurred on the 7200 block of Ora Glen Drive.

July 23: A window was broken on the 5800 block of Cherrywood Lane at 8:25 p.m.

July 24: A door lock was damaged on the 5900 block of Cherrywood Terrace.

July 25: A resident juvenile was petitioned for malicious destruction after throwing a rock at a vehicle on the 7700 block of Hanover Parkway. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending action by the Department of Juvenile Services.

A GPS unit was taken from a vehicle on the 5900 block of Cherrywood Lane.

July 26: Ayunli Xavier Chavis, 29, of Greenbelt, and Gladiz Elizabeth Torres-Romero, 21, of Washington, District of Columbia, were arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia on the 9100 block of Springhill Lane at 1:15 a.m. The suspects were released on citations pending trial.

Derrick Derrell Jones, 21, of Greenbelt, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia on the 7800 block of Mandan Road at 10:41 p.m. The suspect was released on citation pending trial.

Tires were flattened on the 5800 block of Cherrywood Lane.

July 27: Roanita Louise Morgan, 27, of Hyattsville, was arrested and charged with trespassing on private property on the 9200 block of Springhill Lane at 9:58 a.m. The suspect was released on citation pending trial.

July 28: Eugene Hayes Banks, 25, of Washington, District of Columbia, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while impaired by alcohol, among other charges after a traffic stop near the intersection of Greenbelt Road and Cherrywood Lane at 1:34 a.m. The suspect was released on citations pending trial.

July 29: A blue 2003 Toyota Matrix with Maryland tags was taken on the 5700 block of Greenbelt Metro Drive on July 23 was then recovered. No arrests were made.

A blue 2000 Ford Crown Victoria with West Virginia tags was taken on the 6400 block of Capitol Drive.
