Police Blotter: Feb. 8 – Feb. 18

The weekly crime activity report from the Greenbelt Police.

Feb. 8: A resident juvenile was petitioned for trespassing on school grounds on the 7600 block of Hanover Parkway at 3:25 p.m. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending action by the Department of Juvenile Services. 

Feb. 10: A GPS unit was stolen from a vehicle on the 5800 block of Cherrywood Lane.

Feb. 11: Electronics were taken from a residence on the 6900 block of Hanover Parkway at 1:24 p.m.

A white 1996 Nissan Maxima with Maryland tags, originally reported stolen on the unit block of Crescent Road, was recovered by the Metropolitan Police of the District of Columbia. No arrests were made.

Tools were stolen from a vehicle on the 9300 block of Edmonston Road.

 A car window was broken on the 6100 block of Breezewood Drive.

Feb. 12: A car window was broken on the 6000 block of Springhill Drive.

A rear Maryland tag was taken from the 7400 block of Greenbelt Road.

Feb. 13: A GPS unit, two iPads and a laptop were stolen from a vehicle on the 7400 block of Greenway Center Drive.

A car window was broken on the 6000 block of Greenbelt Road.

Feb. 14: An attempted carjacking occurred on the 5900 block of Cherrywood Lane at 12:00 a.m. The victim provided a ride to two suspects, who later attempted to take the vehicle from the victim. The victim was able to flee. The suspects are described as a black male, 24 years old, 5’7”, thin build, wearing a dark jacket and pants; and a black female, 23 years old, 5’4”, wearing a dark jacket over a white T-shirt.

Marcos Alfonso Davis, 24, of Adelphi, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, after a traffic stop on the 5800 block of Cherrywood Lane at 10:22 a.m. The suspect was released on citation pending trial.

A window in the laundry room was broken on the 6200 block of Springhill Court at 10:10 p.m.

An apartment window was broken on the 6200 block of Springhill Court at 10:30 p.m.

A car window was broken on the 6100 block of Breezewood Court.

Feb. 15: Electronics were taken from a residence on the 6200 block of Breezewood Court at 9:37 a.m.

An attempted burglary occurred on the 100 block of Westway at 1:57 p.m.

Feb. 16: An armed robbery took place on the 6700 block of Village Park Drive at 12:01 a.m. Six suspects, described only as black males, entered the victim’s home, displayed handguns and stole the victim’s property and a green 2000 Honda Accord with Maryland tags.

A green 2002 Dodge Caravan with Maryland tags, reported stolen through the Metropolitan Police of the District of Columbia, was recovered on the 6100 block of Breezewood Court. No arrests were made.

An attempted auto theft occurred on the unit block of Parkway.

Vandalism was reported on the unit block of Centerway at 12:32 p.m. after several trees were cut down.

An apartment window was broken on the 9100 block of Edmonston Terrace at 3:00 p.m.

Anayo V. Chukwurah-Orezabo, 32, of Hyattsville, was arrested and charged with unattended child in a motor vehicle on the 7400 block of Greenbelt Road at 7:22 p.m. The suspect was released on citation pending trial. 

Electronics were taken from a residence on the 5900 block of Cherrywood Lane at 7:34 p.m.

Feb. 17: A stolen vehicle was recovered on the intersection of Greenbelt Road and Kenilworth Avenue at 1:15 a.m. A non-resident juvenile was petitioned for motor vehicle theft, after taking a white 1995 Honda Accord with Maryland tags. The juvenile was released to the Department of Juvenile Services.

An armed robbery occurred on the 7800 block of Somerset Court at 3:29 p.m. Unknown suspects forced their way into the victims’ home, when the victims’ answered the door, displayed a handgun and demanded property. The suspects are described as black males, in their 20’s, wearing dark clothing.

Feb. 18: Hillary Ateawung, 31, of Lanham, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while impaired by alcohol, among other charges after a traffic stop on the 6900 block of Hanover Parkway at 2:00 a.m. The suspect was released on citations pending trial.
