Police Blotter: August 14 - 25

The following arrest information was supplied by the Greenbelt Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

August 14: An armed robbery occurred on the 6000 block of Greenbelt Road at 1:23 p.m. The suspect entered the store, displayed a silver knife and demanded money from the cashier. The cashier complied, and the suspect then fled the scene on foot. The suspect was described as a black male, 18, no further details were provided.          

August 17: Jewelry was taken from a residence on the 9300 block of Edmonston Road at 4 p.m.          

August 19:  A 1999 Nissan reported as stolen earlier the same day from La Plata, Maryland was located on the 7700 block of Greenbrook Drive by Greenbelt Police. No arrests were made.

August 20: An armed robbery took place on the 8000 block of Mandan Road at 1:48 a.m. Two male suspects approached the victim who was sitting on a bench. The first suspect was partially concealing a shotgun along his side, which he pointed at the victim and demanded his money.  The victim complied and the suspects fled to silver in color vehicle and drove away. The first suspect was described as a black male, 19 to 22, 5’9” to 5”10”, approximately 200 lbs., medium complexion, dread locks, muscular build, last seen wearing all black clothing.  The second suspect was described as a black male, 19 to 22, 6’2” to 6’3”, approximately 180 lbs., light to medium complexion, last seen wearing all black clothing.              

Kwaku Boadi Antiwi, age 38, of Silver Spring, was arrested and charged for trespassing on private property on the 6000 block of Greenbelt Road at 10:25 a.m. The suspect was released on criminal citation pending trial.

August 21: A laptop was stolen from a residence on the 5900 block of Cherrywood Terrace at 12:25 p.m.

A 1998 two-tone, beige/black Chevy Tahoe reported stolen from the 6100 block of Springhill Terrace was recovered later the same day by the Prince George’s County Police Department. No arrests were made.

A 1998 Dodge Caravan reported stolen on August 6 from the 7800 block of Walker Drive was recovered by the Washington Metropolitan Police Department. No arrests were made.

August 22: An unknown object broke a glass sliding patio door on the 200 block of Lakeside Drive at 12:52 p.m. 

August 23: Two generators were taken from a residence on the 7500 block of Greenway Center Drive at 12 p.m.        

A purse was taken from a vehicle on the 7400 block of Greenbelt Road.

Four tires were punctured on the 6200 block of Springhill Court. 

August 24:  A 2000 Ford Windstar reported stolen through Metro Transit Police Department from a metro station parking lot in Severn, Maryland was located on the 8700 block of Greenbelt Road. No arrests were made.

August 25: A burglary arrest was made on the 6200 block of Springhill Drive 9:20 a.m. An attempt was made to force open a bedroom window. A Greenbelt youth, 17, was arrested and charged on a juvenile petition for attempted burglary. The juvenile was released to a parent pending action by the Department of Juvenile Services. A second suspect was last seen fleeing the area on foot, described as a black male, 17, wearing a white shirt and black shorts.   

An attempted burglary was reported on the 6900 block of Hanover Parkway 4:18 p.m. The attempt was made to force open a window.  No loss reported.

A PlayStation 3 and laptop were taken from a residence on the 6900 block of Hanover Parkway at 4:28 p.m.
