Prince George’s County Police are working to identify the victim of a crash that killed a man when his SUV hit a tree.

Officers were called to the 11200 block of Croom Road in Upper Marlboro about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a crash involving a sport utility vehicle. The driver – who was the only occupant in the SUV -- died a short time later at a hospital.

The preliminary investigation shows the victim’s vehicle was southbound on Croom Road when, for reasons which remain unclear, he lost control of his SUV. Police said the vehicle left the road and struck a tree.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call police at (301) 731-4422.
