Morrison Drive Electrical Fire Displaces Five Residents

Firefighters responded to an early-morning electrical fire that displaced five residents.

Five people are displaced after a fire erupted in a two-story townhouse in the 7400 block of Morrison Drive in early this morning.

Shortly after 2 a.m. firefighters from Greenbelt, Branchville, Berwyn Heights and nearby companies arrived at the home, which was full of smoke. First arriving units reported an electrical fire on the top floor of the townhouse, with some extension into the attic area as well as to the top floor of adjacent townhomes.

According to fire officials on the scene, firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in 10 minutes with no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire was electrical in nature. Three people from one townhouse and two people from an adjacent townhouse were displaced as a result of the fire.  

The estimated damages of the house is unknown at the time.
