Large Oak Tree Damages Greenbelt Home

The tree damaged the roof and bedroom ceilings on the home's top floor.

A Greenbelt home sustained extensive damage when a large oak tree fell onto the roof of the house during Saturday’s wind and rain storm that whipped across the region, resulting in alerts issued about the potential of tornadoes and severe thunderstorms.

“I knew that tree would come down one day," said Cindy Frend, of Hillside Road in Old Greenbelt. "I was in the living room when I heard the loud crash, which brought out all of my neighbors.”

The tree damaged the roof and several top floor bedroom ceilings. No injuries were reported.
