Lanham Man Killed in Targeted Shooting

The man died in his rental home on Old Franklin Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

Prince George's County police are investigating the fatal shooting of a Lanham man in his rental home Wednesday afternoon.

Police responded to a home in the 10100 block of Old Franklin Avenue around 3:10 p.m. Wednesday for a report of shooting. When they arrived, they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to police, it was not a random crime, but detectives are working on identifying a motive and suspects.

PGPD Cpl. Larry Johnson told The Gazette that the early investigation indicates the man was targeted.

The Washington Post reported through an anonymous police source that two assailants entered the home from the back door where they shot the man.

Neighbors told The Gazette that the shooting took place in a rental home in a relatively quiet neighborhood.
