According to the Prince George's County Police Department, similar events in 2012 saw area residents surrender approximately 450 weapons. Guns and ammo may be exchanged for gift cards worth up to $125.

The guns need not be functional, and unused ammunition will also be accepted for exchange. Residents who decide to trade in their guns should transport the firearms to the event unloaded and in the trunk of their cars.
