Greenbelt Police Report: Teen Bystander Shot in Gunfight, 3 Drug Arrests, 2 Burglaries

Greenbelt Police supplied the following arrest information, from Aug. 24 to Aug. 29. Charges and arrests do not indicate a conviction.

A Greenbelt gunfight broke out, injuring a teen standing nearby, who was hit by a stray bullet; three drug arrests, two burglaries, seven DWI arrests, a vandalism and eight automative crimes in the Greenbelt Police report from Aug. 24 to Aug. 29

Center City

Aug. 24 at 12:05 a.m.: DUI/DWI Arrest. Kenilworth Avenue at Old Calvert Road. A Washington, DC man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while impaired by alcohol, among other charges after a traffic stop. The suspect was released on citations pending trial.

At 5:44 p.m.: DUI/DWI Arrest. Unit block Laurel Hill Road. A Greenbelt woman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while impaired by alcohol, among other charges after a traffic stop. The suspect was released on citations pending trial.

Aug. 25 at 2:42 a.m.: Drug Arrest. Kenilworth Avenue at Old Calvert Road. A non-resident juvenile was petitioned for possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without a license, among other charges after a traffic stop. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending action by the Department of Juvenile Services.

At 11:14 p.m.: DUI/DWI Arrest. Greenbelt Road at Southway. A Lanham man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while impaired by alcohol, among other charges after a traffic stop. The suspect was released on citations pending trial.

Aug. 26 at 1:15 a.m.: DUI/DWI Arrest. Kenilworth Avenue at Old Calvert Road. A Washington, DC man, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while impaired by alcohol, among other charges after a traffic stop. The suspect was released on citations pending trial.

Aug. 27 at 11:08 a.m.: Drug Arrest. 7800 block Walker Drive. Sadad Jamal Oka, 42, of Laurel, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine and malicious destruction of property, among other charges. The suspect was released to the Department of Corrections for a hearing before a District Court Commissioner.

Aug. 29 at 7:55 p.m.: DUI/DWI Arrest. Rt. 495 at Kenilworth Avenue. A Beltsville woman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while impaired by alcohol, among other charges after a traffic stop. The suspect was released on citations pending trial.

Franklin Park, Beltway Plaza, Greenbelt Metro, Capitol Office Park

Aug. 24 at 3:30 a.m.: DUI/DWI Arrest. Greenbelt Road at 63rd Avenue. A Greenbelt man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while impaired by alcohol, among other charges after a traffic stop. The suspect was released on citations pending trial.

At 7:05 p.m.: Burglary. 9000 block Breezewood Terrace. Electronics were taken.

At 9:59 p.m.: Vandalism. 5700 block Greenbelt Metro Drive. Graffiti was found on street signs in the area.

Aug 25 at 2:14 a.m.: DUI/DWI Arrest. Greenbelt Road at 62nd Avenue. An Adelphi man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while impaired by alcohol, among other charges after a traffic stop. The suspect was released on citations pending trial.

Aug. 28 at 7:16 a.m.: Burglary. 6000 block Springhill Drive. A plant was taken.

Greenbelt East, Greenway Shopping Center

Aug. 24 at 6:10 p.m.: Drug Arrest. 7700 block Greenbelt Road. A non-resident juvenile was petitioned for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending action by the Department of Juvenile Services.

Aug. 28 at 6:23 p.m.: Shooting. Mandan Road at Ora Glen Drive. Officers responded for a report of a shooting. . As a result of the shooting, a juvenile walking home was hit by a stray bullet. The juvenile was treated at local hospital and released. One of the suspects is described as a black male, wearing tan shorts, no shirt and red and black sneakers. Automotive Crime - City Wide

Aug. 24: Theft from Auto. 9100 block Edmonston Road. A laptop was taken.

Aug. 25: Stolen Vehicle. 9100 block Springhill Lane. A yellow 2006 QLINK motorcycle with DC tags was taken.

Stolen Vehicle. 7900 block Mandan Road. A black 2000 Ford F150 with MD tags was taken.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle. 6500 block Capitol Drive. A black 2012 Cadillac SRX with MD tags, reported stolen through the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia, was recovered. No arrests were made.

Aug. 26: Theft from Auto. 7400 block Frankfort Drive. A purse was taken.

Aug. 27: Vandalism. 7500 block Mandan Road. A window was broken.

Stolen Vehicle. 7800 block Mandan Road. A yellow 2002 Suzuki motorcycle with MD tags was taken.

Aug. 28: Vandalism. 9100 block Springhill Lane. A window was broken.

Theft from Auto. 6200 block Springhill Court. Electronics and baseball equipment were taken.
