Greenbelt Police Report: Robbery, Burglaries, DWI Arrests

The following crime information, from June 29 to July 5, was supplied by the Greenbelt Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

 

The Greenbelt Police report for June 29 to July 5 includes a strong-armed robbery, two burglaries, two DWI arrests and five automotive crimes.

Center City

June 29 at 3:52 p.m.: Strong Armed Robbery. Unit block Crescent Road. The suspect approached the victim, grabbed a phone out of the victim’s hand and then fled on foot. The suspect is described as a black male, 20-22 years old, 5’6”-5’8”, medium build, with dreadlocks or braids, wearing a white tank top and blue shorts.

June 30 at 9:05 p.m.: DUI/DWI Arrest. Kenilworth Avenue at Pontiac Street. Mario Alberto Diaz Saracay, 36, of Beltsville, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while impaired by alcohol, among other charges after a traffic stop. The suspect was released on citations pending trial.

Franklin Park, Beltway Plaza, Greenbelt Metro, Capitol Office Park

July 2 at 1:44 p.m.: Burglary. 5900 block Cherrywood Terrace. Electronics were among the items taken.

July 4 at 3:35 a.m.: DUI/DWI Arrest. Greenbelt Road at Kenilworth Avenue. Dennis Walter Straub, 49, of Glenn Dale, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while impaired by alcohol, among other charges after a traffic stop. The suspect was released on citations pending trial.

Greenbelt East, Greenway Shopping Center

June 29 at 5:17 p.m.: Burglary. 6700 block Springshire Way. Electronics and jewelry were taken.

Automotive Crime — City Wide

June 29: Vandalism. 6600 block Lake Park Drive. A window was broken.

Theft from Auto. 7900 block Lakecrest Drive. A stereo system was taken.

June 30: Theft from Auto. 8000 block Mandan Road. A MD tag expiration sticker was taken.

Stolen Vehicle. 9100 block Edmonston Road. A black 2005 Chevrolet Impala with MD tags was taken.

July 5: Theft from Auto. 7600 block Greenbelt Road. A cellphone was taken.
