Greenbelt Man Arrested in Cigarette Credit Card Fraud Case

Police report finding $21,000 in cigarettes, while investigating a case involving a Greenbelt man who allegedly used stolen credit cards to buy large amounts of cigarettes, according to nvdaily.com

A Greenbelt and a Silver Spring man are facing charges they stole credit cards and then used them to buy a large amount of cigarettes, according to nvdaily.com

Ibrahiima Doukoure, 64, of Greenbelt, Mamadou D. Diallo, 39 of Silver Spring and Mamadou B. Bah, 40 of New York were arrested Monday in Woodstock, Va. for allegedly trying to use stolen credit cards to buy a large amount of cigarettes, according to the report.

Nvdaily.com reported the men were arrested at a Sheetz gas station after an off-duty police officer saw them attempting to use several credit cards to buy cigarettes.

Criminals who buy large amounts of cigarettes in Virginia, sell them illegally in other states where there is a high cigarette tax.

Police searched a hotel room using a key found on one of the men and discovered about $21,000 worth of cigarettes inside along with more than 100 credit cards and electronic equipment, according to the nvdaily.com report.

The men are each charged with credit card theft, conspiracy to commit credit card fraud and obtaining money by false pretenses.
