About 5:04 p.m. Friday, Greenbelt Police officers were called to the apartments. They were joined by a SWAT team, which Jaques said was made up of police from Greenbelt, Laurel City and Prince George's County.

Police thought the suspect had barricaded himself inside an apartment, according to Jacques. But just after 10 p.m., the SWAT team cleared the building without locating the gunman.

Police obtained the arrest warrant for Snowden on Saturday, charging him with attempted first degree murder, according to Greenbelt Police. Wednesday morning they located and apprehended him, then delivered him to the Department of Corrections for a hearing before a District Court Commissioner, police say.
