Greenbelt Crime: Several Home Burglaries, Armed Robberies Reported

A look at crime for the weeks of Jan. 20 and Jan. 27, 2013 in Greenbelt, MD.

The Greenbelt Police Department reported a number of burglaries in Center City from Jan. 21-25 almost daily off Crescent Road. (Details can be found in the two police reports attached to this post.)

Also several attempted strong armed robberies were reported near the metro and in Franklin Park. The details are below:

Jan. 18, 6 p.m. in the 9100 block Springhill Lane:

According to police, "the victim was walking with the two suspects, whom the victim had just met, when one of the suspects took the victim’s cellphone from his jacket pocket and fled on foot with the second suspect.

The two suspects are described as black males, approximately 17 years old—suspect 1: 6’0”, thin build, wearing a brown North Face jacket; and suspect 2: 5’11”, thin build, wearing a black and gray jacket and camouflage pants."

Jan. 18, 6:27 p.m. in the 5900 block Cherrywood Terrace:

According to police, "the victim was approached by two suspects, who forcibly removed the victim’s jacket, and then fled on foot. The suspects are described as black males, 17-19 years old, thin build, wearing black jackets."

Jan. 26, 4:21 a.m. in the 5700 block Cherrywood Lane:

According to police, "the suspect assaulted the victim and attempted to take his property. The suspect was apprehended by responding officers; however, the victim declined to prosecute and the suspect was not charged for the robbery. During the incident, the suspect was found to be in possession of drugs and was charged as follows: Ramo D. Sherreiff, 34, of Washington, D.C., was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The suspect was released to the Department of Corrections for a hearing before a District Court Commissioner."

Jan. 28, 8:18 p.m. in 6000 block Springhill Drive:

Gabriel Bolo Mbaraga, 44, of Greenbelt, was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery, 1st Degree Assault and 2nd Degree Assault, police reported. The suspect was released to the Department of Corrections for a hearing before a District Court Commissioner.
