Greenbelt Crime: Pedestrians Struck, Burglaries, Thefts and More

A look at the crime reported throughout the city.

Greenbelt Police are reporting several crimes in their latest police report.

According to police, severally burglaries and thefts took place in the city between June 13 and June 19. 

The biggest crimes reported are listed below and the remainder can be found in the their full police report

On June 15, an attempted burglary was reported around 5:50 p.m. at a residence in the 5800 block of Cherrywood Terrace. According to the report an outer screen bent and window was cracked. 

On June 19, a father, his son and their dog were accidentally struck when a driver was making a legal left turn from Ridge Road onto Southway around 5:12 p.m. The victims were in the crosswalk at the time. According to police, the father and son refused treatment at the scene and although the dog ran away after the accident, they found the dog later unharmed.

Several burglaries were reported—

  • June 13—2:12 p.m in the 7900 Spring Manor Drive. Electronics were taken. 
  • June 16—9 p.m. in the 9100 block of Springhill Lane. A blue and silver Triax bicycle, a green bicycle and a silver bicycle were taken. 
  • June 18—9:46 p.m. in the 7800 block of Chartwell Place. Electronics, jewelry and money were taken. 
  • June 19—4:16 p.m. in the 8000 block of Craddock Road. Rear glass window was broken and window frame was also damaged. Entry was gained but nothing appeared to have been taken. 
  • June 19—11:05 p.m. in 5900 block of Cherrywood Terrace. A gun was taken. 

Here are where the thefts occurred:

  • June 16—8:27 a.m. in the 6000 block of Greenbelt Road. Cell phone was taken. 
  • June 16—3:49 p.m. in the 6100 block of Breezewood Court. Video games were taken.
