Greenbelt Crime: Attempted Armed Robbery, Burglary and Drug Charges

Center City

Dec. 2 at 3:48 a.m.: DUI/DWI Arrest— A 27-year-old of Bowie man was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Driving While Impaired by Alcohol, among other charges after a traffic stop at Greenbelt Road at Kenilworth Avenue. The suspect was released on citations pending trial.

Dec. 2 at 7:55 a.m.: A burglary was reported at 2 court Northway. The victim observed the suspect take two duffel bags from her yard, police said. The suspect was described as a black male, 5’7” to 6’ tall, medium build, wearing a blue patterned hooded sweatshirt and dark colored jeans.

Dec. 4 at 12:11 a.m.: DUI/DWI Arrest—A 34-year-old Baltimore man was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Driving While Impaired by Alcohol, among other charges after a traffic stop at Greenbelt Road at Walker Drive. The suspect was released on citations pending trial.

Dec. 4 at 12:11 p.m.: Drug Arrest—A 39-year-old Lanham man was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at Southway at Rt. 295. The suspect was released on citations pending trial.

Franklin Park, Beltway Plaza, Greenbelt Metro, Capitol Office Park

Nov. 29 at 11:08 p.m.: Recovered Stolen Vehicle— A 19-year-old Temple Hills man was arrested and charged with motor vehicle theft and theft over $1,000 after officers found him driving a red 1999 Dodge Durango that was reported stolen. Police took Stefhon Joseph Ratiff into custody and he was released to the Department of Corrections for a hearing before a District Court Commissioner.

Nov. 30 at 5:22 a.m.: DUI/DWI Arrest— A 21-year-old Hyattsville man was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Driving While Impaired by Alcohol, among other charges after a traffic stop at Greenbelt Road at 63rd Avenue.

Dec. 1 at 2:02 a.m.: DUI/DWI Arrest—A 24-year-old Hyattsville man was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Driving While Impaired by Alcohol, among other charges after a traffic stop in the 6100 block Breezewood Drive.

Dec. 1 at 10 p.m.: Trespassing—A 46-year-old College Park man was arrested and charged with trespassing on posted property in the 9300 block Edmonston Road.

Dec. 4 at 2:00 a.m.: Burglary— Electronics were reported stolen at a home in the 6100 block Breezewood Drive.

Dec. 4 at 10:12 p.m.: Attempt Strong Armed Robbery—Police said the victim was approached by two suspects in the 5900 block Cherrywood Terrace. The suspects searched the victim’s pockets for property, police said. The victim did not have any property on him, so the suspects fled in a gray older model vehicle.

Greenbelt East, Greenway Shopping Center

Nov. 29 at 8:35 p.m.: Drug Arrest—A 55-year-old College Park woman was arrested and charged with counterfeiting a prescription to obtain hydrocodone in the 7600 block Greenbelt Road.

Nov. 30 at 8:06 p.m.: DUI/DWI Arrest— A 48-year-old Clinton man was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Driving While Impaired by Alcohol, among other charges after a traffic stop at Greenbelt Road at Rt. 295.

Dec. 2: Trespassing—A 34-year-old Upper Marlboro woman was arrested and charged with trespassing on private property in the 7200 block Hanover Drive.

Not the first time a person walking has been robbed or attacked on Cherrywood. Time for a decoy enforcement action.
